Single device setup
Single device setup requires intrinsic parameters of a camera to be known. This software offers two calibration methods to obtain said parameters:
- Using a measuring tape and measuring distances between camera and two points (preferred)
- Using a sheet of paper that has charuco markers printed on it then recording it from multiple angles
Calibration is performed for a specific resolution and zoom level, which means that if you intend to record at various resolutions, you will need to perform calibration for each.
Once calibrated, intrinsic parameters can be reused across sessions; if the file exists on disk, there is no need to recalibrate.
Both methods are pretty straight forward with charuco print being slightly easier to perform but requires a print and lightning conditions can affect the results.
Measuring tape method has less external variables and requires only measuring tool but in some cases it is hard to measure everything alone.
Once your device has been calibrated you can move onto recording your first animation! Single device recording
